Engineering Overview: Senior Rust Cloud Infrastructure & Procedural Macro Engineer
Shuttle combines incremental remote Cargo compilation caching (sccache/buildkit) with instant Firecracker microVM orchestration and Axum control planes written in Rust. Speed up containerless Rust build pipelines, expand `shuttle-runtime` procedural macros, and manage multi-tenant network isolation.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain high-throughput Rust subsystems centered on Axum, Firecracker, eBPF.
- Eliminate mutex contention and unnecessary serialization copies across internal RPC and storage boundaries.
- Collaborate asynchronously with senior systems architects across Europe / Worldwide Remote.
Qualifications & Total Rewards
- Proven systems engineering background in Rust, including deep knowledge of Firecracker, eBPF, Tokio.
- Ability to reason from first principles about CPU cache lines, I/O bandwidth, and distributed consensus trade-offs.
- Transparent pay band: $160,000 to $210,000 USD base salary, equity ownership, and hardware stipend.
