Technical Context & Problem Space
Build high-throughput Rust change-data-capture (CDC) pipelines (`pg_replicate`), Postgres Foreign Data Wrappers (`pgrx`), and control plane services.
We write native Postgres extensions in Rust using `pgrx` and zero-allocation logical replication decoders that stream WAL changes to Apache Iceberg, ClickHouse, and S3. Every microsecond saved on the hot path translates directly into lower hardware footprint.
Key Engineering Deliverables
- Maintain `pg_replicate` and `wrappers` in Rust, ensure exactly-once WAL slot delivery under network partitions, and benchmark memory safety inside Postgres C hooks.
- Harden distributed state machines and I/O pipelines written in Apache Arrow, Parquet, Tokio, Axum against network partitions and disk faults.
- Build deterministic benchmarks and chaos tests that catch regressions before production rollout.
Candidate Profile & Compensation
- 3+ years writing performance-critical systems software in Rust (with production exposure to Apache Arrow and Parquet).
- Solid grasp of virtual memory, page caches, thread-per-core scheduling, or modern hardware interconnects.
- Annual base band: $175k - $235k USD (Worldwide Remote), paired with equity and async-first remote workflows.
