Multimodal Architecture at LanceDB

In this role, you expand the reach of Lance format across cloud storage tiers, data processing frameworks, and AI workflows. Posted base salary spans $180,000 to $250,000 USD plus equity ownership.
Core Production Responsibilities
- Design and benchmark zero-copy Apache Arrow RecordBatch reading pipelines directly from cloud object stores.
- Optimize disk-resident vector indexing trees including IVF-PQ and graph-based indices under strict memory budgets.
- Integrate distributed execution backends with Apache Arrow DataFusion and custom SIMD distance evaluation kernels.
- Coordinate distributed partition layout pruning to eliminate remote read amplification during analytical queries.
Qualifications
- Extensive programming experience in Rust, C++, or low-level systems programming targeting high-throughput data engines.
- Working knowledge of columnar storage concepts, Apache Arrow internals, or query execution graphs.
- Familiarity with SIMD vector intrinsics (AVX-512, NEON) and asynchronous Linux I/O pipelines.
- Disclosed compensation: $180,000 to $250,000 USD base salary alongside equity grants and remote flexibility.
